Havelock Havic: Chapter 1

I finally got everything moved into my bedroom the way I want it. My single bed under my window, long wooden dresser by my closet, and my pictures of me and my friends summer tapped to the wall by my bed.

It's been a few month's since I lived with my mother. I left last summer when I moved back down to Port  Jervis without her or my sister Stella. Couple months later they both moved down too. My best friend Aaron, who was abandoned by his mother and beat by his father, was allowed to move back home with me. He now lives in the spare room my mom had across the hall from me.

I decided to go see how he is coming along with his room. He doesn't have much though, a double sized mattress, bag of clothes and some things for a shower. He is taller then me, just as skinny but with muscle, has brown eyes and hair and has a bit of an acne problem on his face. My sister, as well as almost every other girl in havelock, has a thing for him. I, however, have a crush on someone else, both mine and Aaron's best friend, Shawn.

"How you making out down here Aaron?" I asked while remembering that Shawn was supposed to come over today.

"It's alright, not much to move around now is there?"

"No, I guess not, well I am going upstairs now to find something to eat." I laugh since I am always eating. That is what I do when I get bored.

I go upstairs to find my mom has gone to Maries. She goes there a lot, they have been dating on and off for a couple months. Sometimes we go with her because Marie is like a step mother to us and her three daughters and son are more like our siblings. She even has a dog that gets along with ours. With mom gone though we usually get to do what we want.

I walk over to Stella's room to ask her if she wants something to eat. Her room is the only one upstairs, between the bathroom and the living room. Shes not even there for what I see. I start saying her name. "Stel..."

"I'm on the computer" Stella says, of course laugh, she is always on the computer. You'd think I'd learn this by now being her sister for 13 years.

"Would you like something to eat?" I ask her without her even noticing I'm there.

"No, I just ate before mom left."

I make my way to the kitchen. I look through the cupboards and then move onto the fridge. I close the fridge after finding nothing, but open it again as if something magically will appear in there that wasn't there before. Then I hear a knock at the door and continue looking in the fridge.

"Ruby! Shawns here!" Aaron yells.

I start smiling then quickly reply "I'm in the kitchen." I hear them walking upstairs talking. They enter the kitchen and see me just standing in the middle of it with the fridge door open. I look over to see them and can't think of what to really say because I can't stop thinking how cute he looks. He has beautiful green eyes and blondish hair, about the same height as me.

"Ruby?" Asked Aaron as Shawn and himself looked at each other in confusion.

"Sorry guys, guess I was just out of it." I laugh and close the fridge door "So let's go play this game... I bet I'll win!" I add trying to provoke them because when they get worked up it makes for better challenges. Since I am a girl and about as good at racing as them I need them to be competitive.

"There is no way you will win Ruby." Shawn replied smugly as he pushes on my arm.

"Stella come hang out with us." Aaron tells my sister, still on the computer.

Stella agrees and we all go downstairs to Aaron's room. We start setting up the Tv and Shawn unpacks his playstation 2. He begins hooking it up while I sit and wait and Stella and Aaron go further into the bedroom, where there is a wall blocking off the water heater, until they seem to disappear. Shawn and I never ask what they do, we just have decided to ignore the fact they even leave.

After everything is set up we start our race. I am using a Mazda RX-8. She's a glass black with a glowing moon and star on the hood as well as two blue stripes on the sides. My car is like my baby on here. It has everything upgraded and works like a charm.

Shawn on the other hand is using a deep burgundy Chevrolet Camero SS. It has red tinted windows and black and white flames going from front to rear on both sides. On the hood there is an air ram, on the roof a tempest style roof scoop. His rims are custom split-spoke alloy and like mine, is completely upgraded. Our race is a sprint race, my favorite
